A summer vacation in the tropical Alola region becomes the next exciting chapter in Ash Ketchum's quest for Pokémon mastery! A sunny new region awaits Ash and Pikachu, with exciting new Pokémon to discover and interesting people to meet along the way. This includes the cool Professor Kukui and the fun-loving Samson Oak. In addition to Kiawe, Lana, Mallow, and Sophocles, a mysterious research assistant named Lillie will help guide Ash's Alolan adventure. It is also likely that Team Rocket has made the trip to Alola, hoping to snare some high-powered new Pokémon. However, they have some serious competition on the villainy front: the ruffians of Team Skull, who enjoy causing chaos and may have sinister intentions.
The Alola region is where you'll encounter newly discovered Pokémon, along with Pokémon that have taken on a new Alolan style during your journey through Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. It is even possible to encounter powerful Legendary Pokémon as well as other special Pokémon, like mysterious guardian deities. You can now keep track of all Pokémon you've caught and seen with the new Rotom Pokédex.
The Pokémon you train and battle with can learn powerful Z-Moves, moves so powerful they can only be used once in battle. For each type of Pokémon, there are Z-Moves, including exclusive Z-Moves for Eevee and Pikachu. Test out these awesome moves in battle to see what they can do!
Your battle skills will be tested by tough Trainers around every corner! In addition to facing Team Skull and the kahunas, the tough leaders of each island, you will also face the nefarious ruffians attempting to steal Pokémon. You can also reach the Battle Tree if you’re strong enough, which is where the most accomplished Trainers battle each other.
Your Pokémon can be kept in great shape after all that fighting with the new Pokémon Refresh feature. The more affectionate your Pokémon become toward you, the better they'll perform in battle. Take good care of your Pokémon by curing any status conditions like poisoning and paralysis. Your Pokémon will be great allies on your adventure if you take good care of them with Pokémon Refresh!
When your Pokémon are placed in PC Boxes, they can also visit the new Poké Pelago, a place where they can play, explore, and participate in fun activities. Poké Pelago is a group of islands where your Pokémon can explore, play, and do other fun activities. As your Pokémon play there, they may become stronger or acquire items for you.
You can transfer Pokémon caught in Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow to your copy of Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon using Pokémon Bank. It is also possible to bring Pokémon from Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, and Pokémon Y into Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.
