myGovID is the Australian Government's digital identity that allows you to prove who you are when using online government services. Use myGovID to unlock online services for personal and business purposes whenever and wherever you want.
Your myGovID is different from your myGov account. You can connect your myGovID to securely log in to myGov - you will continue to access your myGov through your device's browser.
Set up your myGovID in three simple steps:
- Download the MyGovID app
- Enter your details - including your full name, date of birth and personal email address that only you have access to.
- Test your identity to strengthen your identity. There are three identifying powers - basic, standard or strong.
By enhancing your identity, you can access more services and better protect your identity.
Enhance your identity by verifying your Australian ID documents such as passport, driving license, and Medicare card. These documents are compared with existing government records. You can also choose to verify your photo, this is a one-time face verification check to further enhance your identity. The app scans your face and checks in real-time to see if you are the right person and the right person.
You must be at least 15 years old to set up MyGovID. However, age restrictions may apply to the use of certain online government services. To find out if you are eligible to use a particular service, read its Terms of Service.
Your personal information will not be shared without your permission - you remain in control. Ovid is known under the Australian Trusted Digital Identity Framework, which strictly controls how your identity data is collected, stored, and used. It uses encryption technology as well as security features in your device such as fingerprint, face, and password. This is to protect your identity and prevent others from accessing your information.
