Smart Switch allows you to transfer your contacts, music, photographs, calendar, text messages, device settings, and more to your new Galaxy device. Additionally, Smart Switch™ assists in the discovery of your preferred applications or the recommendation of comparable ones on Google Play™.
Who has the authority to transfer?
Owners of Android™ devices
- Android 4.0 or newer is required for wireless transmission.
- Note that non-Samsung devices with Android versions lower than 6.0 can only connect with Galaxy devices that support a Mobile AP. Wireless transfers from a compatible Android device to a Galaxy device are possible only with Android 4.0 or higher.
- Wired transfer requires a USB connector, a charger cable, and Android 4.3 or higher.
Owners of iOS™ devices should select the option that is most suitable for their needs:
- Wired transfer from your iOS device to your Galaxy: A USB connector, iOS device cable (lightning or 30 pin), and iOS 5.0 or higher are required.
- Import from iCloud™: Apple ID
- and iOS 4.2.1 or higher are required for the transmission of files from a PC to a Mac via iTunes™. Begin using the Smart Switch PC/Mac software.
What is capable of being transferred?
Contacts, calendar (device content only), messages, photos, music (DRM-free content only; not supported for iCloud), videos (DRM-free content only), call records, memos, alarms, Wi-Fi, wallpapers, documents, app data (Galaxy devices only), and home layouts (Galaxy devices only).
By upgrading your Galaxy device to M OS (Galaxy S6 or higher), you can transfer app data and main layouts.
Note: The Smart Switch scans and transfers content from the SD card (if applicable) and the device's internal storage.
Which devices are currently supported?

The installation and operation of Smart Switch on specific devices may be impossible due to factors such as device compatibility.
- Both devices must have a minimum of 500 MB of free capacity in their internal memory in order to accommodate data transfer.
- If you have a non-Samsung device that is frequently disconnecting from the wireless network, navigate to the Advanced Wi-Fi settings on your device. Disable the "Wi-Fi initialise" and "Disconnect low Wi-Fi signal" options, and then attempt to reconnect.
